Tips
- Choosing an IP Address: Make sure the address you select does not conflict with any other devices and is within the same subnet as your network.
- Subnet Mask: This determines the range of IP addresses on your network. Common subnet masks include 255.255.255.0 for small networks and 255.255.0.0 for larger ones.
- Default Gateway: This is usually your router’s IP address. It’s used for routing traffic to devices outside your local network.
- DNS servers: These are used to resolve domain names to IP addresses. you can use your router’s DNS Server or a public DNS server like Google DNS (8.8.8.8)
By manually assigning IP addresses, you’re ensuring consistency and control over your network configuration. However, be cautious not to assign conflicting addresses or disrupt network operations.
